How do you set up manually or easiest way to set up an inventory how do I go about it the list of inventory we can look into and enter invoices who do you do it
Hi Edna
you want to set up inventory in Sage accounting software.
There are several steps to keep in mind.
1st – put a list together of the types of inventory you have.
2nd – figure out what type of inventory codes you want to use.
at our work place we sell hardware and we have categorized each hardware.
Ex: our wire ropes code start with the letter W for Wire Rope followed by size. so a normal wire rope code is W34636 (Oh, the 636 is the construction of that rope).
We also have Slings so the code for sling is SL3426 (SL is for Sling – 34 if for 3/4″ and 26 is for 26′
You have to figure out your codes so it will be easy to find what your looking for it in the list drop down.
In payable or receivable journal as soon as I type W all the wire ropes will drop down same with SL all the slings will drop down and I can easily pick from it.
This could be a long process so do not rush and study what kind of code system you want so it will be user friendly and easily memorized.
3rd – In the Inventory and Services module – when you start inputting your codes and descriptions you need to click on the link tab and link the Inventory Asset account, The Sales Account, the Cost of Goods account and the variance account. ( the variance account can be the same as the Cost of Good account.)
These accounts must be already set up in the chart of accounts so you can use it as link accounts for your inventory.
Hope this helped.

Hi Jan
You have finished month end and need to move ahead.
You can change session date when opening the program or if you are already in the program go to Maintenance and Change Session Date. A date box will open.
Hope this helped.
